Presenting at Innovate 2020

Presenting at Innovate 2020

As many of you have heard, Innovate has been pushed back and transitioned to a virtual format. While I’m disappointed that I didn’t get to go to Chicago and see many of my OLC friends and colleagues in person, I’m thrilled at OLC’s decision to continue on with the conference. As always, I’m impressed with their ability to pivot, adapt, and innovate in the face of adversity.

I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to co-present with colleagues from several different institutions to help them further their work and ideas. Check out their work on the dates and times listed below.

What A Personal Learning Network Can Tell You About Plns & Why You Need One Now

Friday, June 19th 12:15 PM
Lead Presenter: Bettyjo Bouchey (National Louis University)
Co-presenters: Erin Gratz (Orange Coast College), Jessica L. Knott (Michigan State University), Megan Kohler (Pennsylvania State University-Main Campus), Monica Simonsen (University of Kansas)
Session Duration: 45min

Brief Abstract:
This interactive session showcases strategies that promote productive virtual collaboration through the experiences collected in a study on participation in a Professional Learning Network (PLN).  Participants reflect on the findings of the research study and engage in structured networking designed to kick-start collaborative partnerships to improve productivity and institutional outcomes.

I’m also excited to be presenting at and attending Innovate for the first time. I was fortunate to have two of my presentations accepted and will be a co-presenter on two other sessions being offered by colleagues at other institutions. If you’re able to attend Innovate, I’ll be presenting two models that I’ve been collaboratively developing over the past few years. It would be great to have you stop by and provide feedback on these projects.

PRESENT AND REFLECT SESSION
Building Bridges Of Collaboration For Successful Course Design

Tuesday, June 23rd 10:00 AM
Lead Presenter: Megan Kohler (Pennsylvania State University-Main Campus)
Session Duration: 45min

Brief Abstract:
In education, you often hear the phrase “Content is King”. Yet, during the course design process, the content can also become a major limitation when trying to develop innovative, high-quality learning experiences. In these circumstances, the development clock runs out while design teams wait for the prized content. When the content is received, there is often little time left to review and implement any revisions. While this is not always the case, this scenario happens more often than we prefer.
